Navigating the Turbulent Insurance Marketplace

Insurance has become a challenging issue for property managers as insurance carriers place more restrictions on coverage, cancel policies, or simply leave the California market. We asked a respected insurance advisor to offer guidance on how to navigate the current market.

Here are some of the questions Harold will address in his presentation:

What happened to the insurance market? Why are my clients’ policies being cancelled or getting so many update requests?
What can I do to avoid non-renewal of my clients’ policies?
Why are premium increases for some policies so high?
How can I find the best coverage at a reasonable cost?
What is the California FAIR Plan and Non-admitted Market? Are they okay for my clients?
How do I ensure myself as a property manager? Do I need D&O insurance? Should I require being listed as an additional insured on my client’s policy?

Harold Newbill – Insurance Advisor for McClatchy Insurance Agency

Harold started with McClatchy Insurance Agency in 1994 and became the owner in 2011. He has nearly 20 years of experience advising rental owners and property managers. Harold received his BA in history from CSU Sacramento, served four years in the U.S. Navy, and earned several professional designations, including the industry renown Certified Insurance Counselor designation.
